L.A.-based funk/soul/Afro-beat collective Orgone say their name is "pronounced with a long second 'O,'" and means "a universal life force, a cosmic unit of energy, the creative force in nature." They also claim their music will "move your ass and melt your face."
You may already be familiar with the band. They've played Pisgah Brewing (most recently in June) and the Orange Peel (opening for Galactic last year). On Monday, Oct. 15, Orgone brings its eight-piece lineup and "heavy, raw, adrenaline-fueled funk and sweat-dripping soul" sound to Asheville Music Hall. This will be the band's first time to headline a downtown stage.
Watch the band perform at the Orange Peel here:
The show is at 9 p.m.; local funk/soul/jam act The Fritz opens. Tickets are $8 in advance or $10 day of show.
