The pastrami was piled high on the rye bread; the brown mustard and Dr. Brown's cream soda flowed down parched throats. T-shirts and the sky were that color blue.

Asheville's growing and diverse Jewish community came together Oct. 21-22 to celebrate food, music and culture at the Hard Lox Festival in Pack Square.

T-Shirts of all kinds were for sale.


If you wanted food, you had to have a ticket. To find your way around, you could use a program .


Knishes were popular ...


As were classic deli sandwiches.


And of course, there was music.
