After hearing from the candidates and their campaigns for months, voters have their last chance to decide who they want in public office today, Nov. 6. Polls are open throughout North Carolina from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

To confirm your current polling place or other information, call the Buncombe County Board of Elections at 250-4200 or use the state's online voter lookup tool.

For more information on the candidates running in local races for the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners, North Carolina General Assembly, and U.S. Congress, see Xpress' voter guide here. For other races on your ballot, UNCTV has a nonpartisan guide here.

In addition, Xpress has a Politics & Election page that will be updated throughout the hours and days ahead with results and other local election news.

We're also on Twitter — see below for an aggregation of live tweets from Xpress reporters and others using the hashtag, #avlelect.

Use that hashtag if you'd like to post your own thoughts, photos and other information to this site as well. Plus, we'll consider including the dispatches in a subsequent election roundup.
