Silver bells and snowflakes will be the theme of this year’s Asheville Holiday Parade. For the past 66 years, this WNC tradition has kicked off the winter season with floats, dancers, music, and of course, Santa Claus.
The parade departs at 11 a.m. next Saturday, Nov. 17. from Biltmore Ave. and winds its way through town until it reaches Patton Avenue at North French Broad Avenue. Dance troupes, marching bands and decorated floats are sure to ring in the holiday spirit. Keep your eyes out for Xpress’ giant ski slope on wheels with its own band of merry elves.
Don’t go home once the parade reaches its final destination. The fun continues at JingleFest in Pack Square Park from 1-4 p.m. There will be jugglers, stilt walkers, games and a chance for kids to get their picture taken with Santa. Plus, local Olympic silver medalists Lauren Tamayo and Manteo Mitchell will sign autographs. All the fun is free.
