Judge weighs N.C. funds cutoff of Planned Parenthood

A federal judge said Wednesday he is weighing whether to invalidate part of the state budget that cuts off North Carolina's two Planned Parenthood affiliates from federal or state family planning funds.
Judge James Beaty Jr. said after about a 90-minute court hearing he would issue a ruling shortly, but gave no indication when. His decision could allow Planned Parenthood of Central North Carolina to receive contracts this year worth more than $200,000, most of it for a Latino pregnancy prevention program in Durham.
