Does the city of Asheville have some information you'd like to see made available to the public? Let them know, as staff are now taking nominations on the city's open data catalog.
The city's open data catalog, still in beta, already has bus routes, neighborhood boundaries, park information, and more. That's only a fraction of the information the city has available, and the nomination process is intended to help city staff decide which data troves they should open next. Votes are already coming in, including for landlord and housing safety complaints (I nominated that one), building permits, greenways, and restaurant inspections, among others. Citizens can also submit data of their own.
