Musician Marc Yaxley knows the power of a good guitar. He's first picked up the instrument at age 11 and by the time he was 15 he was playing with Roy Counts of the Texas Wanderers.

After studying guitar in New York City and performing in Las Vegas and Florida, Yaxley came to Asheville to teach guitar and cello in UNCA's music department. He has recorded six CDs and performed at the Grove Park Inn Jazz Festival.

Yaxley will bring his mix of jazz, classical and flamenco guitar to The Episcopal Church of St. John in the Wilderness in Flat Rock on Sunday, Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. The concert is free and donations for the artists will be accepted. Info: www.stjohnflatrock.org or 693-9783.
