from the WNC Historical AssociationThe Western North Carolina Historical Association will host a presentation and open forum entitled "Let's Talk Quilts," presented by Connie Brown, an American Quilter's Society Certified Appraiser. The program will be held at the Smith McDowell House Museum on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at 2:00 pm. Participants are invited to bring a quilt, such as a family heirloom; or a quilt of unique design or materials for questions and discussion in a group setting. Quilts and white work coverlets from the collection of the Smith McDowell House Museum will be on display and will be highlighted in Mrs. Brown's presentation.
Connie Brown was juried into the Southern Highland Craft Guild in 2000. She has curated a number of regional quilt exhibitions including exhibits at The Biltmore Estate, the North Carolina Arboretum and the Asheville Buncombe County Library. Connie has been a freelance quilt pattern designer since 2001 and her own work has been juried into a number of national shows and exhibitions."Let's Talk Quilts" is open to the public and is free to WNCHA members. A donation of $5.00 for non-members is suggested.
