Contortion/mime/theatre duo Button Wagon (Ember Bria and Matt Poki) returns to Asheville with a new show, Trash Rabbit. According to press it's "an exploration of freedom, plastic, poverty, religion and trash." And, worth noting, is rated PG-13 for guns and nudity.

There's a video preview on the duo's website, but — while the surreal except set to a three-minute spoken world piece by someone called Pregnant is eerily poignant — it does little to shed light on what the show is about. Alt-weekly Gambit checked out a performance of Trash Rabbit at the 2012 New Orleans Fringe Festival and had this to say: "The scruffy contortionist/illusionist duo Button Wagon opened Trash Rabbit, a show full of gun-toting and references to living in poverty, by asking the audience to rise for the national anthem, which they delivered somewhat conventionally and brilliantly."

See the show at BeBe Theatre this weekend, Friday, Jan. 11 and Saturday, Jan. 12 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Jan. 13 at 6 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes before the show starts. Tickets are $15.
