The local roots music trio plays Isis Music Hall on Saturday, Jan. 12. Xpress will give away a pair of tickets to the show Friday, via Facebook.
Local roots music trio Red June (Will Straughan on resonator guitar, guitar and vocals, John Cloyd Miller on mandolin, guitar and vocals, and Natalya Weinstein on fiddle and vocals) gets the new year started right, with a performance at Isis Restaurant & Music Hall.
Not that the band was having a bad 2012. They appeared on the UNC-TV show NC Weekend. (Follow that link to watch the segment.) Also, according to the band's website, they "performed at the 25th Anniversary MerleFest, the French Broad River Fest, Shakori Hill GrassRoots Festival and Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion and out West at the Gallivan Folk & Bluegrass Festival, Fiddles, Vittles & Vino, and the Beartrap Summer Festival."
And Red June just released its first-ever music video for the song "Cloud of Dust," written by Miller.
This trio is going places. Starting with Isis on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Seated show downstairs with limited tables of four available with dinner reservations. All ages. press will give away a pair of tickets to the show Friday, at noon, via Facebook.
