The Asheville Police Department will not press charges in the Jan. 14 death of Dean Bush, a homeless man who was struck by three vehicles on Tunnel Road and dragged over four miles.
"The Asheville Police Department Traffic Safety Unit consulted with the District Attorney's Office regarding this investigation," the APD announcement reads. "It was determined there will be no charges filed for any of the drivers involved. Mr. Bush crossed in an area that was not designated for pedestrian traffic. Also the weather and time of day made it difficult for the drivers to see Mr. Bush in the roadway."
Police are still seeking a fourth vehicle — a "small white passenger vehicle" — that witnesses also saw at the scene.
