Indigo Girl Amy Ray has been known for her singing, songwriting and contemporary folk sound since the '80s. Though Ray continues to record and tour with the Indigo Girls, she's also worked on solo projects since 2001 — most recently Lung of Love (her previous album, Didn't It Feel Kinder, was recorded at Echo Mountain). And Ray has been lending her talents to other projects: She sang backing vocals on Miracle Temple, the new album forthcoming from Durham/Chapel Hill-based Mount Moriah. Ray headlines a show at Emerald Lounge on Wednesday, Jan. 30 with special guest Heather McEntire (of Mount Moriah) and Hiss Golden Messenger. 9 p.m., $15. http://www.emeraldlounge.com.
