Local post-punk power-pop outfit Running on E (vocalist Nick Norton, guitarists Austin Burgess and TJ Burns, drummer Nigel Ormsby and bassist Logan Zachary) just signed to Louisville, Ky.-based recording label Little Heart Records (home of Uh-Huh Baby Yeah). Little Heart will release Running on E's forthcoming EP, Late Nights and Long Drives, set to drop on Tuesday, Feb. 19.

Watch the just-released video for "Where's My Money John?" (filmed by Dan Hasegawa at artist George Peterson’s Circle Factory in Brevard):

Late Nights and Long Drives is a brisk jog through metal guitars ("Martin's Ferry"), angsty lyrics and percussion that snaps like a live wire at the heels of the menacing bass. Fans of Chapel Hill band Blag'ard (or, farther from home, All American Rejects or an edgier All Time Low) will find kindred spirits in the Asheville band, which formed just a few short years ago.

"Maturity" is the most poignant offering on Late Nights, its emotionalism spiked with verbal barbs. "I'm sorry you grew up and turned into an asshole. I'm sorry we can't all be mature like you," Norton snipes. It's a feeling most of us have had — add a screaming guitar solo and the insouciance is pitch-perfect.

Running on E holds an EP release party on Friday, Feb. 15 at The Boiler Room. 9 p.m., $5.
