The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for a swath of the western part of the state, including Asheville, cautioning about snow showers today and "bitter wind chill" later tonight. The watch is in effect until 7 p.m. tonight

The NWS predicts that a cold front crossing north Georgia will turn into snowfall as it hits the mountains, lasting until daybreak Sunday. The NWS forecasts about an inch of snow, warning of black ice later tonight, and advises caution while driving.
