• Asheville's trip-hop outfit Paper Tiger was just added to the March 1 lineup at Asheville Music Hall. It's perfect timing, too, because as Paper Tiger works its way ever closer to the release an eagerly-anticipated next album, the band posted the teaser track "This Time Around," available for a limited time as a free download. Thriftworks (aka Berkley-based producer Jake Atlas) and Splynter also perform. 10 p.m., $8 in advance/$10 day of show.

• Singer-songwriter Jeff Santiago and his inimitable band, Los Gatos Negros, takes the stage at Highland Brewing from 6-8 p.m. While show promises to rock, it's also open to all ages. And it's free. And it's possible that Santiago will play some of his new songs — he's announced a new album to be released this year. Los Gatos Negros includes Jason Daniello (guitar, vocals), Clayton Jones (drums), Jared White (bass) and Debrissa McKinney (backing vocals).

• "We host some killer local folks ready to share a wide range of literary stylings," say Juniper Bends organizers of the upcoming reading event. It takes place at Downtown Books & News, starting at 7 p.m. Rachel Howard, Caleb Beissert, A.K. Benninghofen and Laura Patterson share their writing and "There will be wine available by donation (bonus points if you bring your own cup [BYOC]) and some sultry tunes from Jesse's iPod beforehand."
