Here's the info via the WNC Alliance email newsletter. For more on the local public hearing on Progress Energy's proposed rate hikes see previous Xpress coverage here.
On March 5, the Utilities Commission will hold a public hearing in Asheville on Progress Energy's proposed rate hikes.
They want to raise our rates to pay for extending the lifeline of coal and gas in North Carolina.
Instead, Progress should invest heavily in energy efficiency and renewable energy, which would cost less in the long run and protect human health and the environment.
Join us to speak out for a clean energy future and call on the Utilities Commission to reject the rate hikes.
We're offering a training session on what to expect at the rate hike hearing and how we can amplify our collective voice at the proceedings:
Rate Hikes Public Hearing Training Session:
When: 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 27
Where: 34 Wall St., third floor
Who: Your neighbors, friends and family.
We can make a difference in the rate hike hearings this year, but we will only win this if we are all in!
