From UNC Asheville News ServicesUpdate on robbery investigation
The UNC Asheville Police Department is continuing its investigation into the report of a robbery of a UNC Asheville student that occurred Wednesday night, March 20, in parking lot P26, near Zeis Hall. The student was not injured.
The student told police that two black males, 20 to 30 years old, wearing black hoodies, approached her vehicle in parking lot P26. One suspect approached on the driver’s side and the other approached on the passenger’s side. The suspect on the passenger side displayed a black handgun and the suspects then got into the back seat of the vehicle. After taking the student’s wallet and cell phone, the suspects fled the area on foot through the woods towards W.T. Weaver Blvd., according to the student’s account.
UNC Asheville placed an alert on the university website, unca.edu, and used its Bulldog Alert system to send an alert message to students, faculty and staff, via phone, text and email.
UNC Asheville police are continuing the investigation this morning. Two subjects of interest were located last night at Washington and Hillside Ave. No arrests have been made at this point.
Anyone with information about this incident should contact UNC Asheville Police at 828/251-6710.
