APD charges woman with murder of an unborn child

From the Asheville Police Department:

Asheville – The Asheville Police Department received information from the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office and the State Medical Board that 44 year old Tina Louise Bailey had represented herself as a midwife and had practiced midwifery without a license. During a home birth, a child was stillborn during a labor that was under the care and supervision of Bailey. The subsequent investigation led the District Attorney’s Office to recommend charges on Bailey as follows – Murder of an Unborn Child, NC GS 14-23.2(a)(3), Obtaining Property by False Pretense, NC GS 14-100, and Obstruction of Justice. Bailey is being held at the Buncombe County Detention Facility on $150,000.00 bond.
