Imploring its readers to "get a taste of Asheville while it still feels local and before it goes global," travel guide Fodor's has listed our city as one of "21 places we're going in 2011," along with places like Tokyo, Stratford-upon-Avon and Mozambique.

Asheville was featured first on the site's line-up, under the heading "Sample Arty Appalachian Culture," though the list doesn't give specific rankings for the destinations.

"On the edge of the alluring Smoky Mountains, the food and drink scene of the recently dubbed 'Beer City USA' is the perfect compliment to the scenery," the article gushes, before noting the arts and music scene along with Pack Square Park. The Inn on Biltmore Estate and Hotel Indigo get recommendations for would-be travelers to stay the night.

In case you were unawares, Fodor's has decided that the the best time to visit is "late September to early November." For the leaves, naturally.
