Local Food Fest
Saturday, April 27, 2 to 6 p.m.
Wall Street, downtown
Every year, the Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture project releases a guide tof regional farms, tailgate markets and food producers. Celebrate the release of the guide — and Western North Carolina’s great food culture — with live music, samples, cooking demos and a mini-farmers market. Plus, Wall Street’s restaurants will offer local specials throughout the day and donate a percentage of the proceeds to ASAP.
Saturday, April 27, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
UNCA’s Sherrill Center
$5 entry fee
The Gluten Intolerance Group of Asheville hosts an opportunity to learn more about gluten-free eating. The gathering is targeted toward people with Celiac disease and gluten intolerance, but it’s open to anyone interested in learning more about wheat-based proteins and how to avoid them.
Now in its sixth year, the festival draws more than 1,000 people from all over the region. Ingles sponsors the event, and gluten-free restaurants and producers hand out samples, including Plant, Posana Café, Do More Bars, My Gluten Free Bread Company, Dolci Di Maria desserts and Gallo Lea Pizza.
