FRAC defines food hardship as times when families said they did not have enough money to buy food that they needed for themselves or for their family. According to the press release:
North Carolina is among the nation's worst states when it comes to a family's ability to put food on the table, according to a new report. The report from the Food Research and Action Center (FRAC) ranked North Carolina 11th worst, with 28.5 percent of families with children saying they ran out of money to buy food at least once in the past year.
