Rep. Nathan Ramsey, R-Asheville, said a county employee asked that he add Buncombe to the legislation. It would allow the county, and nine others, to opt out of printed legal advertisements and instead publish them on government websites.
He would not identify the worker on Monday.

Ramsey acknowledged that he had no resolution from county leaders supporting the legislation. He said he would remove Buncombe from the list if county commissioners passed a resolution asking him to do so.
Buncombe budgets about $59,000 a year on legal ads, said Kathy Hughes, clerk to the Board of Commissioners. The county’s total budget is about $337 million.
