Why: Native Kitchen and Social Pub in Swannanoa is pulling out all the wickets for its upcoming fundraiser for Child Abuse Prevention Services. Teams of two will compete in a 1930s-style croquet tournament, followed by a sunset championship and music.
The afternoon will be lighthearted, but the cause is serious. According to CAPS, one in five children will experience abuse in their lifetime and four will die every day due to abuse and neglect. The organization reports a 20 percent cut in funding in recent years, so it’s reaching out to the community.
Native Kitchen and Social Pub partner Casey Watkins says to expect "a day filled with fun, laughs, great memories, topped off with great local food, music and beverages.” The victors will receive bragging rights and the prestigious Golden Mallet award. A prize will be awarded to the best dressed team, so don't forget your croquet whites, wide-brimmed hat and argyle socks.
