Beer, beer and still more beer

I can see enjoying some crafted beer now and then, though I don't drink beer myself. I'd rather Asheville be known for something far more progressive and important than Beer City USA, and I would rather see way fewer pages going toward both beer and food in Mountain Xpress every week.

I miss articles on environmental issues and the Green Scene. And certainly with all our diversity there must be many interesting things people are doing, not just making beer and cooking, which can fill those Xpress pages.

I miss “City” by Derf and Tom Tomorrow as well, my favorite cartoon strips. With all the micro-breweries popping up, I figure, like the housing bubble, it'll burst at some point, or at least reach saturation.

I have had to sidestep the up-chuck on downtown sidewalks, while showing visiting family Asheville's charms, and I avoid outdoor happenings where there will be the smell of stale beer everywhere, as my stomach just can't handle it anymore. I am all for folks enjoying their beer, but enough already! Can we talk or read more about something else?

Kudos, I agree wholeheartedly. Way too many stupid diversions around here while rome burns from inadequate municipal contraception funding.
