SPRUCE PINE, N.C. (June 14, 2013) – Blue Ridge Regional Hospital announces the appointment of George D. Methven, DO, Board Certified by the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists , as an obstetrics and gynecology physician. Dr. Methven will practice at Blue Ridge Medical Center campuses in Spruce Pine and Yancey.
“I have delivered about 5,000 babies and I still enjoy the miracle of bringing each newborn into this world,” Dr. Methven, certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, said. “There is nothing more rewarding than the delivery of a healthy baby—it is truly a miracle.”
Prior to joining Blue Ridge Regional Hospital, Dr. Methven practiced at Cedar County Memorial Hospital, El Dorado Springs, MO. He served his internship and his residency at Michigan Health Center, Michigan State University, Detroit, MI, and performed as its Chief Resident for four years.

Dr. Methven received his BS at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Oklahoma State University, Tulsa, OK.
“I involve the patient totally in the decision process,” Dr. Methven said. “I usually start conservatively. I present my recommendations, but allow the patient to make the choice.”
