John Miall’s formal announcement for mayor

From John Miall for mayor:

I will personally file for the Office of Mayor for The City of Asheville on Friday, July 5, 2013 at 12:15 PM at the Buncombe County Board of Elections.

I am a native of Asheville. I attended Asheville City Schools and graduated from Asheville High School, Montreat-Anderson College and UNC-A.

I served the community for 30 years with the City of Asheville. Since retiring in 2006, I have been one of the foremost leaders nationally in health care and risk management. I have done numerous public speaking engagements across the US in regard to these subjects.

I have a passion to return to public service and lead the City of Asheville as its Mayor. I spent a lifetime building relationships and taking leadership roles to achieve success, both locally and nationally. I want to bring those skills to City Hall where I believe they are needed.

As a full-time Mayor, my primary goals will be:

Hold City Management and City Council, including myself, accountable to serving the Asheville taxpayers

Focus on key issues such as law enforcement, basic city services, and leading versus following the special interests of groups that would throw us off course

Move forward on the road construction project for I-240/I-26 connector to West Asheville

Develop a long-range plan for the entire city, setting concrete milestones, establishing time-lines and measuring results

Please join me on Friday at the Buncombe County Board of Elections along with my family, friends and supporters, when I file for this very important office.
