Singer/songwriter/cellist Ben Sollee has been winning fans ever since he launched his solo career following a successful tour with The Sparrow Quartet (which included Abigail Washburn, Bela Fleck and Casey Driessen). He played Asheville this past June, in support of his most recent album, Inclusions. (He also performed just for Xpress.)

Now Sollee returns to Asheville — well, to Swannanoa, actually — to play a benefit concert for LEAF in Schools & Streets. the concert takes place at Warren Wilson College's Bryson Gym (701 Warren Wilson Road) on Friday, Sept. 9, 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $18 in advance/$15 student (at Harvest Records — cash only — or online at Prosperity Collective). $22 day of show.
From the Facebook invitation:
"Brooklyn-based, Sky Captains of Industry open. Youth poets from LEAF in Schools and Streets will also perform. Primarily a seated show, there is also floor seating in front for those who would like to bring a pillow for this intimate evening of music."
Biking to the show is encouraged — those who do receive a free beverage. Local tall-bike performer Michael Mooney will be at the event, as will "some of Asheville’s best food trucks, the Pink Taco Truck (Mexican) and The Lowdown (tasty sandwiches); vegetarian options available.
"We will also be selling tickets for the Lichty Guitar raffle and will be raffling off two comfortable, portable outdoor Caravan Chairs from Asheville’s own Blue Ridge Chair Works.
