ASHEVILLE — City police chief William Anderson’s son, already embroiled in a major legal tangle following a March traffic accident that caused a public backlash against his father, was charged with driving while impaired following a wreck early [Aug. 25.] in southern Buncombe County.
Chad Anderson, 22, was driving a 2013 Ford passenger car when he flipped the vehicle shortly before 3 a.m. on Mills Gap Road near the Cane Creek Road intersection, according to a warrant at the Buncombe County magistrate’s office.
Anderson, who escaped injury, was arrested after a Highway Patrol trooper noticed a “strong odor of alcohol.” The trooper also noted in his report that Anderson had “red, glassy eyes” and failed a roadside sobriety test, according to arrest documents.
Anderson’s blood-alcohol level was 0.16, twice the legal limit, when he was tested later at the Buncombe County Detention Facility, according to the warrant.Read the full article
