As with every year, the more than 250 quilts showcased this Friday-Sunday in the Expo Building at the WNC Agricultural Center will all be new to spectators; after a quilt is entered once, it will be seen nevermore, making way for entirely new mosaics of patterns and colors.
“It’s the same great show it’s always been, and we’ve got a lot of spectacular quilts again, from 13 states all over the country,” said Charlotte McRanie, chair of this year’s exhibit.
“Folks will see a wide variety of quilts, and these days, quilts have become works of art, not just your traditional grandmother’s quilt.”
More than $8,000 in prize money is up for grabs in this year’s production, which also includes more than 20 vendors, demonstrations and speakers, a silent auction, raffles, a gift shop and quilts for sale.
