Dear Friends, Community Builders, Entrepreneurs, and Educators
It is with the utmost excitement that we invite you to join us for TOOL TALK, a casual get-together to talk about the non-profit, volunteer-run, community-based initiative,
the Asheville Tool Library!
We plan on opening early 2014 and we want input from people like you who are already doing such amazing work in the world. You are only getting this email because we greatly value your opinion and input on this project.
Come enjoy a cold beer, some yummy food, and conversation around how the Asheville Tool Library can serve the largest breadth of our community. Join us at the French Broad Food CO-OP Tuesday Oct 8th from 6-8pm or for a portion of that time.
We want to hear your questions, comments, opinions, and most of all, any concerns you may have. We believe in what we are doing and its all about building our community and making it more resilient - we want to do this in the most effective way possible.
Where We Currently Stand:
Over the past eight months we have been working diligently on building this from the ground up and after hours of research, talking to other lending libraries, building relationships, and dreaming about all the possibilities, we are very happy with where we are and humbly acknowledge we have a lot of work to do - we need help. After loads of support from the French Broad Food Co-op, we are planning on opening shop out of two storage containers next to Build it Naturally in the farmers market lot. We're on a roll with being awarded a matching funds grant from The Center For a New American Dream, featured on Asheville FM radio, the Mt. Xpress, the Citizen-Times, and the WLOS 6 O'clock news. We have received non-profit status through fiscal sponsorship from Empowerment Works, which is a national non-profit supporting community based initiatives. There is buzz spreading through the community about how great a tool library will be so we have
expectations to live up to.
We hope you can find the time to join us long enough to have a drink or share a story with us and we look forward to serving our community.
Be well good people.

P.S. We are currently running a crowdfunding campaign (check out the video https://ioby.org/project/asheville-tool-library) and we are planning a big Tool Drive in November in hopes of getting 1,000 tools donated to start the library.
