Press releaseFrom Environmental & Conservation Organization
(HENDERSONVILLE, NC, October 1, 2012) – The 4th Carrotmob sponsored by Environmental & Conservation Organization (ECO) is happening at Dancing Bear Toys at 418 N. Main Street in downtown Hendersonville. On Saturday, October 12, help ECO Carrotmob this friendly local toy store by visiting between the hours of 11 am and 3 pm. Your purchases will allow Margaret Kuhn, manager of the Hendersonville location, and her staff promote the use of reusable cloth bags for large purchases during the holiday season. Combined with their bags made from 100% recycled paper, we can expect less material heading to the land fill. Dancing Bear Toys will purchase of the bags after the money is raised during the Carrotmob, so be sure to head back over to Main Street for your holiday shopping.
The Carrotmob movement began five years ago in California and has spread across the globe. Focused on the “reverse boycott” concept (“carrot” versus boycott “stick”), it organizes events in which consumers flood a business that has agreed to use the increased proceeds from that day to adopt more environmentally sustainable practices.
Call ECO with any questions about the Carrotmob and find out how you can be involved to help encourage our local business community to implement green business practices at (828) 692-0385. Previously Carrotmobbed downtown businesses include Jongo Java, The Green Room Café & Coffee House, and The Dugout, each of which have implemented a new green idea since 2012.
