Mandy is one of a wonderful group of nurses at AMC who work diligently to meet this aim. I am grateful for our wonderful staff who like Mandy, take the extra moment to touch the lives of our community in such a special way. Mandy makes a difficult experience a better one for our families by providing exceptional CARE as well as quality. This is what healthcare is all about and what makes nursing such a fulfilling profession.”

The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses was founded by The DAISY Foundation (for the elimination of Diseases Attacking the Immune System) in memory of J. Patrick Barnes by his parents after they experienced firsthand the skills and compassionate caring of their son’s nurses.

Angel Medical is a Mission Health member hospital, and Mission Health’s DAISY Award Committee selects two nurses each year, one in the spring and one in the fall, from among the many nominees to receive this special honor for Angel. The honoree is presented with a certificate commending her or him for being an “Extraordinary Nurse.” The certificate reads: “In deep appreciation of all you do, who you are, and the incredibly meaningful difference you make in the lives of so many people.” The honoree also receives a beautiful handmade sculpture called A Healer’s Touch, hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Africa.
