THe NWS warns that "damaging accumulation of ice will bring down some trees and power lines...especially near the blue ridge, some slick spots on roads...especially on bridges and overpasses will make for treacherous driving conditions."
The main part of the warning is below:
..Icy conditions continue across portions of the Carolina and
Georgia mountains and the north carolina foothills...
Freezing rain will continue across portions of the area this
morning...primarily along and east of the I-26 corridor...and
along and north of the I-85 corridor. accumulating ice is most
likely along the Blue Ridge in North Carolina...where damaging
accumulations are likely. the precipitation is expected to change
to rain in all areas by late morning.
As low pressure responsible for the precipitation moves northeast
of the area late tonight and Wednesday...developing strong
northwest winds will bring cold air back into the area...allowing
rain to change back to freezing rain...and then snow across
portions of the North Carolina mountains. heavy accumulations of
wintry precip will be possible tonight...especially in the
counties bordering Tennessee.
