If you haven't already noticed, it snowed quite a bit.
And, having spent my entire life until very recently residing in the Sunshine State, I have a big, goofy grin on my face that just won't quit.
Now I'm assuming maybe some of you are a bit jaded with the whole snow-experience, but let me tell you a little story about my first real experience with winter. It happened this morning.
After the initial shock of waking up to my first-ever white winter — and realizing that, yes, I have to go to work today, I scraped the snow off of my yellow Beetle with a Bob Dylan CD, managing to get it all over myself in the process. I excitedly jumped up and down for a while as my neighbors stared at me with concern and bombarded my many social media accounts with photos of the morning discovery, most sporting all-caps captions such as, "THERE IS NO EMOJI TO CONVEY MY EMOTIONS FOR THIS!"
I should probably calm down.
You know you're ecstatic (and maybe a little crazy) when you're walking up that ridiculous hill on Walnut Street at 8 a.m. in 30 degree weather, giggling at nothing and staring up at the sky as snowflakes float down into your eyes. People probably just assumed I'm one of those strange Asheville hippies they've heard so much about. Nope. I'm just Floridian. And totally out of my element.
So, Asheville, how are you handling this morning's weather? Better than me, I hope.
