Grant pairs trail improvements with arts, crafts

The Center for Craft Creativity and Design, located in the UNCA Kellogg Center in Hendersonville, recently received a $19,000 grant to maintain their Rudnick Nature Trail, located on the 50 acre facility. The grant was written and proposed by Stephanie Moore, executive director of the center.

“We plan to use the grant to enhance the trail through acts of landscaping such as expansion, widening the trail itself, general maintenance and adding some directional signs,” said Moore.

The trail is not only a testament to the beauty of the mountain region, but also to the creativity of local artists. Sculptures are displayed along the trail for passersby to admire and appreciate.

The trail also takes visitors through several different vibrant ecosystems of Western North Carolina, exposing visitors to the importance of diversity firsthand.

The grant was approved by the Perry N. Rudnick Endowment Fund of Henderson County, and aims to also add native plants to the trail. ...
