Highland Lake Inn & Resort and Season's Restaurant received the Environmental Sustainability Award from the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce at the 91st Annual Chamber Awards Dinner held at Kenmure on Jan. 31st, 2014. The award was presented by Vikki Bailey of Asheville Savings Bank. Before presenting the award Mrs. Bailey went over many of the things that Highland Lake Inn does in their commitment to being a "green" property. This included the linen reuse program, solar hot water system, recycling, restaurant composting and oil recycling program, and the organic garden. Also mentioned was the fact that Highland Lake Inn is a certified wildlife habitat by the National Wildlife Foundation. The award was received by Kim Smith, Guest Services Manager.
