DeBruhl mounts GOP primary challenge to King for commission seat

Here’s the press release from Miranda DeBruhl announcing her bid to run for a seat on the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners in District 3. She’ll face incumbent Republican Commissioner David King in the GOP primary on May 6.

Asheville – Small business owner and Buncombe native Miranda DeBruhl filed today to run for the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners in District 3. “As the mother of two young children, I want nothing more than to ensure a better future for Buncombe County,” Miranda said. “Unfortunately, some board members have supported higher taxes on the hard working citizens of Buncombe County. I find it very disappointing that our current incumbent commissioner, who was elected as a Republican, votes with the liberals more often than not, instead of representing the people who elected him. We can do better.”

Miranda and her husband own and operate a community convenience store in Buncombe County. She also serves our community as a Registered Nurse, and for the last two years has coordinated a large, successful trade show while raising her young children.

“I feel my experience working in both healthcare and small business will be an asset to the Board of Commissioners,” she continued. “I’m running to bring some reason and a real-world perspective to the board. I have a strong desire to represent regular working people in the county.”

A lifelong Republican, Miranda will face incumbent commissioner David King in the May 6 primary. District 3 encompasses most of southwestern Buncombe County and includes the Leicester area, Candler, Arden, and South Asheville.
