Valentine's Day will be over soon enough, but there's still plenty of love in the air. Urban/commuter bicycle advocacy group Asheville on Bikes (AoB) hosts its fifth annual Bike Love event on Saturday, Feb. 26.
The party, which takes place this year at Arcade Asheville (130 College St.) from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., celebrates local bike culture or (as the poster puts it), it's "an evening of bicycle passion to support the enhancement of Asheville's cycling experience" and (according to a press release) "showcases Asheville on Bikes’ community initiatives."
The evening includes:
• A commuter bicycle raffle. (Ski Country Sports in donating a Giant Roam I which retails for $600; "Ski Country Sports will fit the winner of the bicycle with the proper frame size so the winner rides in both style and comfort.") Raffle tickets are $2 for 1 or $5 for 3.
• A silent auction of bicycle gear.
• Live music by Uncle Mountain, C Scott (Speedsquare, ST. Solitude) and Red Dirt Floor.
Advance tickets are $12 and can be purchased at Ski Country Sports, Pro Bikes, Liberty Bicycles, BioWheels, Motion Makers and Youngblood Bicycles. Admission at the door is $15.
