Asheville police seek dog owner in dog bite incidents
Here's the press release from the Asheville Police Department:

ASHEVILLE – The Asheville Police Department Animal Services Unit is seeking the public’s help to locate a dog owner in the following bite incident:

On November 20th, 2009 at the Aldi Store at 1344 Patton Avenue at approximately noon, the victim in this case was trying to pet a stray dark colored Fiest type dog with a medium length coat when she was bitten in the finger. After the bite occurred, the dog fled the area.

On November 21st, 2009 near # 499 Merrimon Avenue (just north WT-Weaver/Merrimon Avenue intersection) at approximately 1:00 pm, the victim in the case was running and was bitten on the back of the left leg as she passed a dog on a leash. The dog is described as a large tan/black German Shepherd type with erect ears. The owner of this dog is described as a White Female in her mid-30s with blonde curly shoulder length hair. The owner was also in the company of 2 children (male and female) and a second smaller dog.

The Animal Services Unit wants to locate the owner to verify the dog’s vaccination status and to take the necessary steps to protect the victim against the rabies virus.
Anyone with information on how to contact the owner is asked to call APD at (828) 252-1110 and leave a message for a call back or Animal Services at (828) 259-5872 and leave a message for a call back.
