NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED AN AREA OF MODERATE TO HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN MOUNTAINS OF NORTH CAROLINA. RAINFALL RATES UP TO ONE HALF INCH PER HOUR WERE OCCURRING, AND THESE RATES WERE AFFECTING LOCATIONS THAT HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED BETWEEN ONE AND TWO INCHES OF RAIN TODAY.
DEEP PONDING OF WATER WILL DEVELOP IN LOW SPOTS, WITH DEEP RUNNING WATER IN DITCHES IN CULVERTS. MANY AREA STREAMS AND CREEKS WILL SEE RISES TO NEAR BANKFULL THROUGH THE EVENING HOURS. ISOLATED FLOODING WILL BE MOST LIKELY FROM MAGGIE VALLEY TO SYLVA.
