French Broad Riverkeeper posts video of sediment pollution

Video report from an unhappy riverkeeper:  North Asheville construction site in Grove Park Cove that polluted the French Broad River for months. Sediment is the number-one polluter in the French Broad and most of that sediment comes from badly managed construction sites.

The video was posted on Nov. 19. No other information was included.

I’m confused..I Googled “Grove Park Cove” and it’s nowhere near the French Broad..It’s off of Griffin in North Asheville..

I think the name French Broad Riverkeeper refers to the entire French Broad River watershed, in which all of Asheville lies, along with most of Buncombe and Henderson and Transylvania counties.

Perhaps the riverkeeper will join in the discussion, and if he does, I suspect he’ll point out that we all need to learn more about what watersheds we’re in.

Interestingly, if you drive east in Buncombe County, at some point you’ll cross the Eastern Divide; when you cross that point, all water flows to the Atlantic. But on the westwern side, which is more or less west of Black Mountain, all water flows, via the French Broad into the Gulf of Mexico.
