Navy SEAL from Asheville dies during training

A western North Carolina native died Tuesday in a training accident, the US Navy announced Wednesday. Special Warfare Operator 2nd Class (SEAL) Ronald Tyler Woodle, 26, of Waynesville died during dive training near Key West, Fla.
Woodle was part of a small group of Navy SEALs engaged in dive training in waters near Key West when he was reported missing by his teammate. An immediate search was conducted and Woodle was recovered within minutes. He was unconscious and CPR was initiated.
Woodle was born in Asheville, N.C., and grew up in the greater Asheville area, where his mother and father still live. Woodle was home schooled until high school, when he attended Asheville Christian Academy where he was a star soccer player, scoring 72 goals during his tenure.
Since October, Woodle had been conducting intensive training with his teammates in preparation for their next deployment overseas.
