“How lucky are we, that in a town of our size (really folks - it’s just not that big) we have the opportunity to experience the music of our amazing Asheville Symphony,” begins a press release. In addition to stellar concerts, the Symphony’s outreach programs “touch hundreds of kids every year - introducing them to classical music and the possibilities and flights of fancy those lyrical strains conjure up.”

To benefit those programs, Sante Wine Bar holds a fundraiser on Thursday, Feb. 23 from 5-8 p.m. But this is no mere telethon. The benefit comes in the form of a wine tasting where imbibers are invited to “throw some money in the bucket (all monies collected go directly to the Symphony), pick-up your tasting glass and taste the fabulous wines from Martin Ray’s ‘Angeline’ line.”
