2011 Rotarians Against Hunger food drive, help your neighbor
Rotarians Against Hunger 2011 Annual Food Drive

The ROTARY CLUB OF ASHEVILLE, in partnership with Mission Children’s Hospital, Kids Against Hunger, and Manna FoodBank, will hold their Second Annual Rotarians Against Hunger (RAH) on April 9, 2011.

Food for an estimated 216,000 will be collected, packaged, baled, and readied for distribution to our Western North Carolina neighbors and those who are part of an ongoing medical/dental mission to Honduras sponsored by the Rotary Club of Asheville.

This event is honored by a three-year commitment from Asheville artist Jonas Gerard, who is donating his art to be auctioned to the highest bidder with 100% of the proceeds being utilized for the purchase of food for this hunger initiative.

Gerard’s auction piece entitled, “Dancing to the End of Love,” is a beautiful, vibrant display of color and vitality, which will also be used on promotional materials. “It is exciting to join Rotary’s efforts in directly addressing the pressing need for food among the most vulnerable in our population,” stated Gerard. Gerard’s art works will be the visual focal point throughout 2013 to bring about the increasingly serious need to provide nutritious, high quality food for our region.

Some 900 volunteers are needed for the day of this event. To sign up as an individual or group, volunteers should contact: rotariansagainsthunger@yahoo.com.

Tax deductible donations can be made to: Mission Healthcare Foundation with a notation that they are for RAH (Rotarians Against Hunger). Checks should be mailed to: Rotary Club of Asheville, P.O. Box 1954, Asheville, NC 28802.
