ASHEVILLE - In an effort to increase efficiency in the licensing and re-licensing of dogs that live within the city limits, the City of Asheville has partnered with animal license registration provider, PetData Inc. Beginning Nov. 14, all pet licensing and re-licensing will be handled online at http://www.petdata.com/ or by US Mail. Dog tags will no longer be available for sale at City Hall.
Asheville City Ordinance requires all dogs at least 6 months of age or older to be licensed annually. The annual license fee is $10 and is due Jan. 1 of each year.
To use the online service, the pet owner will enter his or her zip code under the “License Now” tab. Multiple pets can be licensed at the same time and all required documents can be easily uploaded to the website. All major credit cards are accepted. A small convenience fee will apply per transaction.
To license by mail, a copy of the pet’s current rabies certificate, along with a check, should be mailed to Asheville Animal Licensing, C/O PetData, PO Box 141929, Irving, TX 75014.
“Purchasing a license and attaching it to your pet’s collar is one of the most important things you can do as a responsible pet owner,” said Brenda Sears, animal services supervisor with the Asheville police department. “Displaying a current license tag on your pet’s collar makes it easy for animal control officers and shelter employees to quickly locate a lost pet’s owner.”
Beginning Nov. 14, more information on dog licensing in the city of Asheville will be available at http://www.petdata.com/for-pet-owners/ash.
