A seven-piece band named after a mysterious dwarf star, Sirius.B performs at the Emerald Lounge in Asheville on New Year's Eve.

Xavier Ferdon earned a classical guitar degree at the University of South Carolina and studied with flamenco teacher Rafael Santiago Habichuela in Spain before deciding to put a band together in Asheville. His first call was to his friend Pancho Romero Bond.

"Pancho was living in Morocco at the time," he says. "We'd been friends for awhile, and I suggested that he come here and we start a band."

Bond arrived with a loaded van and no plans to say, but Xavier's musical vision and the charm of Asheville won out. ...
