News Radio 570 posts complaints regarding GoTopless event and NC laws on nudity
News Radio 570 has posted PDFs of the two complaints and laws the city of Asheville has cited in the issue raised by Carl Mumpower and Chad Nesbitt, who argue that children were abused by the public display of breasts during the GoTopless demonstration and parade on Sunday, Aug. 22 in downtown Asheville.

The city's legal staff points to an excerpt from a 2007 publication from the UNC School of Government that says the court of appeals has ruled in the past that women's breasts are not considered private parts, therefore are not subject to indecent exposure laws. A statute on child abuse states that exposure of a woman's nipple or areola to a child is against the law unless a woman is breastfeeding.
