Shareholders readily approve Duke Energy/Progress Energy merger

Charlotte Observer reports:
Duke Energy shareholders Tuesday readily approved a merger with Progress Energy, whose shareholders also endorsed creating the largest U.S. utility.

The meetings in Charlotte and Raleigh formalized proxy votes in which more than 90 percent of the Duke shares and about 96 percent of Progress' supported the merger. ...
