The Wilderness Society offers nature journaling workshop with Robert Johnson May 12-15
From The Wilderness Society:

Artists and nature lovers of all ages and skill levels are invited to register with The Wilderness Society for a Nature Journaling Workshop from May 12-15 at Wildacres Retreat Center in Little Switzerland led by renowned North Carolina artist Robert Johnson. Robert’s artwork is featured at Asheville’s Blue Spiral 1 Gallery, the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, and the Ramsey Library of the University of North Carolina at Asheville. A visual storyteller, Robert’s interests in sacred places and the intricacies of the natural world are reflected in his rich works, which are constructed through this journaling process using pencil sketches and watercolor.

Under Robert’s tutelage, workshop participants will learn about the nature journaling method, focusing on observation, drawing, and painting techniques while taking field trips to explore the natural heritage of ecologically rich areas that The Wilderness Society has identified as “Mountain Treasures.”

Please join us for this unique opportunity for field study with Robert in a small group setting as we connect with some of Western North Carolina’s most spectacular mountain landscapes in full springtime glory.

Accommodations, meals, and materials are included. Cost is $490 per person based on double occupancy, and $600 per person based on single occupancy. Class size is limited to 18 people. No previous artistic experience necessary; however, moderate physical ability is preferred, as students should be able to walk a few miles on rugged terrain.
