According to the Asheville Citizen-Times, Crimes are blamed for the deaths of 10 people in Buncombe County in 2011, a figure almost exactly in line with the homicide rate over the last decade. Five in Asheville, four in Buncombe County and one in Woodfin. The only one still considered open is the death of Asheville Fire Captain Jeff Bowen, who died in a blaze that was declared arson.
